n :  acute food poisoning caused by a toxic product produced in food by a bacterium of the genus Clostridium (C. botulinum) and characterized by muscle weakness and paralysis, disturbances of vision, swallowing, and speech, and a high mortality rate - see BOTULIN LIMBERNECK  .
