n :  a neurotoxic analog C15H20NO6 of glutamic acid that is produced by some diatoms (esp. genus Pseudonitzschia) and has caused poisoning in vertebrates (as whales, birds, and humans) that have consumed diatom-contaminated fish or shellfish .
