Ne·gri body

n :  an inclusion body found in the nerve cells in rabies
 
Negri, Adelchi (1876-1912),
Italian physician and pathologist. Negri conducted research in histology, hematology, cytology, protozoology, and hygiene. During histological research undertaken to clarify the etiology of rabies, he discovered in animals suffering from rabies that certain cells of the nervous system contain intracellular bodies with an internal structure so evident and regular as to constitute a characteristic feature. He announced his discovery of the Negri bodies in 1903.
