Guar·nie·ri body
also Guar*nie*ri's body n : a minute inclusion body characteristic of smallpox and cowpox Guarnieri, Giuseppe (1856-1918), Italian pathologist. In 1893 Guarnieri reported his discovery of certain inclusion bodies found in the specific lesions of smallpox and cowpox. Those bodies, now known as Guarnieri bodies, were thought by him to be the causative organism of these diseases.
