n :  a genus of shrubs or small trees (family Rhamnaceae) that are chiefly native to Mexico and the southwestern U.S., have flowers with small hooded short-clawed petals and fleshy drupes, and include one (K. humboldtiana) with a fruit that has been known to poison birds (as domestic chickens)
Karwinsky Von Karwin, Wilhelm (d 1855),
German traveler. The genus Karwinskia was named in Karwinsky's honor in 1832.
