Howard, John Eager (1902-1985),
American internist and endocrinologist. Howard for most of his career was associated with Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was director of the division of endocrinology and metabolism for many years. His early researches were concerned with the clinical syndrome associated with pheochromocytoma. The Howard test was a product of his research on kidneys and the composition of urine and was designed to determine the differential functional change in a kidney in which a certain type of lesion results in hypertension.
