American physician. Cabot is known for his pioneering work in medical social service. His most outstanding contribution to medical knowledge was a 1914 article on heart disease that for the first time gave proper emphasis to its etiologic diagnosis. 1903 was the year in which he described the ringlike bodies (Cabot's rings) found in the red blood corpuscles in severe cases of anemia.
