Du·crey's bacillus

n :  a gram-negative bacillus of the genus Haemophilus (H. ducreyi) that is the causative agent of chancroid
 
Du•crey, Augusto (1860-1940),
Italian dermatologist. Ducrey published in 1889 an announcement of his discovery of the organism which causes chancroid and now bears his name.
