n :  a disease of the Mediterranean area that is characterized by headache, pain in muscles and joints, and an eruption over the body and is caused by a tick-borne rickettsia (Rickettsia conorii) - called also fièvre boutonneuse , Marseilles fever  - see TICK-BITE FEVER TICK TYPHUS  .
