Gas•ser, Johann Laurentius (1723-1765),
Austrian anatomist. Gasser was a professor of anatomy at the University of Vienna. In 1765 one of his students, Anton Balthasar Raymund Hirsch (b 1743), described in a graduation thesis the gasserian ganglion, naming it in honor of his professor.
