Cho·part's joint

n :  the tarsal joint that comprises the talonavicular and calcaneocuboid articulations
 
Cho•part, Franois (1743-1795),
French surgeon. Chopart was a notable instructor of medicine and eventually became a professor of surgery. In 1792 he devised a method for amputating the forepart of the foot at the joint between the two rows of bones in the tarsus in cases involving diabetic gangrene. The joint was named in his honor by one of his students.
