D'Ar·son·val current

n :  a high-frequency oscillating current of low voltage and high amperage used in diathermy
 
Ar•son•val, Jacques-Arsène d' (1851-1940),
French biophysicist. D'Arsonval did pioneering work in electrotherapy. In 1892 he introduced the use of high-frequency currents to treat diseases of the skin and mucous membranes. The current is now known as the D'Arsonval current.
