Kupf·fer cell

also  Kupf*fer's cell  n :  a fixed macrophage of the walls of the liver sinusoids that is stellate with a large oval nucleus and the cytoplasm commonly packed with fragments resulting from phagocytic action
 
Kupffer, Karl Wilhelm von (1829-1902),
German anatomist. Kupffer described the large stellate cells in the lining of the sinusoids of the liver first in 1876 and again in 1899. His observations led to a better understanding of the reticuloendothelial system.
