thrombocytopenic purpura

n :  purpura that is characterized by bleeding into the skin with the production of petechiae or ecchymoses and by hemorrhages into mucous membranes and that is associated with a reduction in circulating blood platelets and prolonged bleeding time <idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura>  - called also purpura hemorrhagica , erlhof's disease  .
