magnesium hydroxide

n :  a slightly alkaline crystalline compound Mg(OH)2 that is obtained by hydration of magnesia or by precipitation (as from seawater by lime in the production of magnesium chloride) as a white nearly insoluble powder and is used chiefly in medicine as an antacid and laxative - see MILK OF MAGNESIA  .
