adj :  relating to or being a reciprocal translocation that takes place between two acrocentric chromosomes and that yields one nonfunctional chromosome having two short arms and one functional chromosome having two long arms of which one arm is derived from each parent chromosome
 
Rob•ert•son, William Rees Brebner (1881-1941),
American biologist. Robertson held a series of academic posts as an instructor in anatomy, histology, and embryology. He first described Robertsonian translocations in 1916.
